Suspect Sought in Cypress Rape

Share

Police said Tuesday they are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a Cypress woman as her sister’s two children slept in another room early Sunday morning.

The man was wearing a mask when he entered the home on Myra Avenue at 1:40 a.m., police Lt. Mike Idom said. Investigators said the attacker might have entered the home through an unlocked window or door.

“There is no forced entry as far as we can find,” Idom said.

The suspect tied up the 29-year-old woman and warned her in Spanish to keep quiet or she would get hurt, police said. He untied her before he left. Idom said the crime does not seem to be related to other recent sexual assaults in Long Beach and Huntington Beach.

A witness reported seeing a light-colored van that may belong to the suspect. Idom said he did not know if the van was parked or being driven down the street.

Cypress police ask that anyone with information about the incident call (714) 229-6642.
