The Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location between 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday. A $417,000 grant from the state Traffic Safety Department enables police departments from Seal Beach, Cypress and Los Alamitos to conduct 16 checkpoints during the next two years.

Seal Beach police have not conducted a sobriety checkpoint in five years, Sgt. Bob Mullins said. Driver’s licenses will also be checked for validity.
