Woman’s Body Found Near Playground at Griffith Park

A badly decomposed woman’s body was discovered in a brushy area near a merry-go-round on the east end of Griffith Park.

Rangers notified the Los Angeles Police Department late Sunday that they found the body in an area near a parking lot, Officer Guillermo Campos said. The merry-go-round is in a heavily used portion of the park, but the body was in a hard-to-see area, Campos said.

The county coroner’s office was unable to identify the body and will probably have to rely on dental records for eventual identification, spokesman Scott Carrier said. He said the cause of death had not been determined.
