Alleged ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Bank Robbers Charged

Three women known as “Charlie’s Angels” were charged with bank robbery and released on bail pending an appearance in federal court next month, authorities said Monday.

Tenisha Dawn Norris, 21, and Aiesha N. Hewitt, 22, of Riverside were charged Friday with the robbery of an Orange County teachers credit union in Anaheim, as well as the attempted heist of a Riverside bank on Aug. 7. Norris and Rashida Kamilah Hewitt, 18, were also charged with robbing a Riverside credit union.

The women were released on bail ranging from $20,000 to $30,000 each after their lawyers told a federal magistrate they had no criminal records. The three are slated to appear in U.S. District Court on Sept. 11, when further charges could be filed, officials said.

In addition, it was disclosed that Rashida Hewitt is seven months pregnant and another of the women is a mother of three, Assistant U.S. Atty. Jason Forge said.

The FBI said the three women allegedly robbed 11 banks and credit unions in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties since April.

FBI agents dubbed the bandits “Charlie’s Angels,” after the ‘70s television show, because they made bank tellers believe they carried handguns in their purses.
