A 12-year-old girl was struck in the head with a golf club by men who used the club and a baseball bat as they chased people and vandalized property, police said Thursday.

The incidents occurred Wednesday night at separate locations in Ventura, said Ventura Police Officer Jim Brittle. The girl was treated for a minor cut on her head at a local hospital.

According to Brittle, two or three men in a brown sedan with a missing headlight went to the 1000 block of South Seaward Avenue about 8 p.m., where two of them chased another man into Surf Liquor and then one of them shattered a store window with the golf club.

About 15 minutes later, a car matching the same description and reportedly carrying the same number of men went to an alley in the 6300 block of Hummingbird Street.

Police said one of the men used a golf club to smash the rear window of a car parked in a covered carport and then swung at Martin Isaac, 19, as he stood nearby with his family.

The club missed Issac but struck his younger sister, Brittle said. The men chased Issac with a golf club and a baseball bat but he got away.
