The Waves won their final home game of the regular season, defeating Tennessee, 2-1, in A-League soccer Friday at Santa Ana Stadium.
Jose Vasquez scored two second-half goals for the Waves (11-14-1), who are in last place in the Pacific Division. The victory keeps the Waves in the hunt for the final Western Conference playoff spot.
Pasi Kenturi scored for Tennessee (6-20), which has lost 15 consecutive games.
* Chapman has appointed assistant athletic trainer Craig Bennett as its women’s soccer coach.
Bennett had 26 shutouts as a goalkeeper and earned All-American honors in 1995 when the Panthers advanced to the NCAA Division III final four. He has been a member of the Chapman training staff for four years and also coached the girls’ soccer team at El Modena High to the 1999 Century League title.
