Economic reports due this week

* Today, the Conference Board will issue its October index of leading economic indicators--a gauge of economic growth over the next six to nine months. It showed no change in September.

* Today, the Commerce Department will report on sales of new single-family homes for October. They advanced a month earlier at a rate of 9.2%, the fastest pace in half a year.

* Tuesday, the Commerce Department will report on manufacturers’ orders for October. They rose 1.6% in September.

* Wednesday, the Labor Department will issue a revised report on nonfarm productivity for the third quarter. Its previous report had productivity expanding at a 3.8% annual rate.

* Thursday, the Fed will issue its October report on consumer borrowing. It rose by $6.4 billion in September, the smallest increase since April.

* Thursday, the Labor Department will report on the number of claims for unemployment benefits filed the week ended Saturday. The week prior they hit 358,000, the highest since July 1998.
