Mayor Brenda A. Ross was recently appointed to the California Commission on Aging by Gov. Gray Davis.
Ross was one of nine people whose appointments were announced Monday.
The commission advocates for California seniors and advises on and participates in programs of the state Department of Aging.
“Of course I’m delighted” with the appointment, Ross said.
Ross, 84, has been active in senior issues and is an appointee to the Orange County Area Agency on Aging. She said she plans to go to Sacramento this week for the commission’s first meeting.
“We’re looking at some of the problems that seniors have in the state, and hopefully we’ll attack some of them,” Ross said.
