Woman’s Struggle Scares Off Attacker

A man tried to sexually assault a woman walking along a street early Thursday morning but was driven off by her struggle and screams, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 30-year-old woman was walking along Sunset Hills Boulevard near Avenida Verano about 5:50 a.m. when a man believed to be 18 to 25 years old grabbed her and tried to push her off the sidewalk.

When she struggled and screamed, the attacker released her and ran south on Sunset Hills Boulevard, police said.

The woman told police she believed she had seen the man walking or jogging in the area before.

She told police he was about 5-foot-5 and was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt with gray sweatpants.

Anyone with information or wanting tips on ways to prevent assaults should call Senior Deputy Larry Logan, a crime prevention specialist, at 494-8267.
