Fourth-seeded Newport Harbor can’t let second-seeded Irvine have an advantage on special teams as it did in Week 6, when Godfrey Young’s 69-yard kickoff return and Eric Patton’s blocked punt set up touchdowns and David Doomey kicked a 37-yard field goal in the Vaqueros’ 19-14 victory. Irvine must turn the tables on Newport Harbor’s offense and wear down running back Chris Manderino. The last three meetings, including the Sailors’ 19-18 victory in last year’s championship, were decided by a combined 10 points.
