* Running back Tyler Ebell of Ventura High has been selected state player of the year for large schools by Cal-Hi Sports. Running back Lorenzo Booker of St. Bonaventure was chosen state player of the year for small schools.

* Former UCLA and Rio Mesa standout Mike Mitchell will direct a baseball camp Wednesday through Dec. 29 at Thousand Oaks High.

* A winter session of the Lu Dawgs’ baseball camp for ages 6-14 is scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at Cal Lutheran.
