TEXAS A&M; (3-4) at LONG BEACH STATE (6-4), 7:30, KPLS-AM (830)--Another victory can give the surging 49ers some needed momentum heading into a Dec. 30 showdown against No. 13 USC. Junior Travis Reed, playing out of position at center because of the season-ending injury to James Williams, seems to have found his niche. In the last three games, Reed has averaged 14.3 points and nine rebounds. He scored the winning basket with 20 seconds remaining in Monday’s 57-54 victory over Loyola Marymount. The Aggies haven’t played since Dec. 9. Guard Bernard King averages 18.1 points and is shooting 36.5% from three-point range. The two teams, who have never met, could engage in a high-scoring contest. Long Beach has surpassed 75 points in six of its 10 games while Texas A&M; is giving up 76.1 points a game.
