* UC IRVINE (5-2) at UC RIVERSIDE (3-6), 7, KUCI-FM (88.9)--These teams last met in 1977. It’s only the second road game of the year for Irvine, which struggled to defeat independent Belmont of Nashville, 84-74, at home Tuesday. Nonetheless, the Anteaters are off to their best start since the 1987-88 season. Adam Parada, a 7-0 freshman center, has scored 31 points in the last two games. In its first Division I season, Riverside has played opponents tough and has beaten Weber State, Oregon State and lowly Cal State Fullerton. The youthful Highlanders are led by sophomore forward Mike Miller, who averages 15.1 points a game.
