More Than Just the Sewage Stinks in Huntington Beach

* Re Dana Parsons’ “Closing the Mouth While Holding the Nose,” Dec. 15:

Thank him for focusing in on the gross mismanagement of the city of Huntington Beach. I don’t often agree with him, but he hit the nail on the head with his comments regarding Surf City’s sewage problems.

And if you think that stinks, you ought to take a look at some of the results of other bungling going on in that town. Talk to anyone who has tried to start a business there, or who has tried to get approval for a project.

And while you are at it, take a hard look at what they have done to one of the finest police departments in California, if not in the nation. With all the obvious problems and obvious solutions, why the heck are they still at impasse with the Police Officer’s Assn.? What’s it going to take?

It’s amazing how much damage can be caused by municipal incompetence before anyone bothers to notice, despite repeated public warnings. Maybe it takes a big stink hole in downtown before someone holds City Hall accountable.
