A 2-year-old girl who had been scalded with hot water in an apparent accident earlier in the week died of her injuries Saturday, authorities said.
The child, whose name was not released, suffered severe burns Thursday evening at a home in the 4500 block of 35th Street East in Lancaster, Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Diana Aronson said.
“It was thought to be a tragic accident,” said Sgt. Michael Handley of the Lancaster station of the county Sheriff’s Department.
The girl, who had suffered third-degree burns, was taken to County-USC Medical Center and later transferred to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, where she died Saturday, officials said.
