Kuehl, Knox to Appear at Forum

Share

Assembly members Wally Knox and Sheila James Kuehl will discuss issues and answer questions tonight in a community forum presented by the Jewish Federation/Valley Alliance.

Because of term limits, Kuehl, who represents the 41st District, and Knox, assemblyman from the adjoining 42nd District, are in a highly competitive legislative contest for the 23rd state Senate District seat that Sen. Tom Hayden will leave at year’s end.

Kuehl, an openly gay attorney and former child actress, has campaigned for women’s causes, health care, the environment and education and has had more than 50 of her bills signed into law.

She has been endorsed by Gov. Gray Davis and U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).

Knox, also an attorney, is supported by organized labor and has been endorsed by Republican Mayor Richard Riordan.

Knox touts his role in overturning the unpopular 11-digit dialing within the 310 area code and his efforts to improve traffic flow at the intersection of the Ventura and San Diego freeways as evidence that he can make everyday life easier for voters.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. For more information, call (818) 464-3204.
