Larder of Spain

Share

Good recipes sometimes mean specialty items, and specialty items sometimes mean running to two or three stores. But not with the Internet. Sites like La Tienda, which sells foods from Spain, keep the Spanish paprikas coming without your leaving the keyboard.

Although some Web food stores make a big hubbub about being online, the pickings are often slim once you get there. La Tienda has a good selection, from capers to chorizo to Manchego cheese. Prices start at $1.95 for a 6-ounce package of Demecao Chocolate Hazelnut wafers. What’s best, perhaps, is the offering of hard-to-find items such as roasted piquillo peppers (a red pepper variety), pimenton (smoked paprika) and jamon serrano (artisan dry-cured ham).

La Tienda also sells paella pans, cigars, Spanish health and beauty products and Spanish art--fittingly, because the family that runs the site also operates a shop selling Spanish, European, Mexican and North African tiles in Williamsburg, Va.
