Aviation Museum to Open Sunday
The Aviation Museum of Santa Paula will open its doors to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Santa Paula Airport.
“This museum is something that should have started 30 years ago,” said Bruce Dickenson, whose grandfather was a founder of the Santa Paula Airport.
The museum will display artifacts from the early years of aviation in the Santa Clara Valley, including dedication of the Santa Paula Airport in 1930.
The display will be spread among several hangars, but Bob and Sally Phelps’ hangar will showcase the main exhibit.
“The museum stems from this rich aviation history, which has a focal point in Southern California,” Dickenson said. “We are a part of the antique aviation world and we want to share it.”
