Nordstrom Inc. said co-President Jim Nordstrom retired to pursue technology- and Internet-based business opportunities after a 24-year career in retailing. Nordstrom, 38, began in the stock room at Nordstrom when he was 14 and worked his way up through sales, department management, buying and store management to become vice president and general manager of Nordstrom’s Northern California region in 1991. He was named co-president in 1995. Nordstrom has not named a replacement for Jim Nordstrom, who invested in Clique.com, a Seattle-based application service provider for media companies, a spokeswoman said. The retailer has four other co-presidents, all part of the Nordstrom extended family. Shares of Seattle-based Nordstrom rose 6 cents to close at $22.13 on the NYSE.
