High-Speed Bus Route

Share

Re “Valley Busway to Subway Is Studied,” Jan. 11.

It was interesting to read about Supervisor Yaroslavsky’s comments on the proposed high-speed bus lane to feed commuters to the new North Hollywood Metro Red Line station.

So he doesn’t think that it is “rocket science” about the need for such a bus route. However it must be rocket science as officials propose that the first segment of this route be between Woodman and Balboa.

Why would anyone start a project like this in the middle? To make it as useful as possible, why isn’t it started at the station going westward? This way it can start to bring people to the station as soon as each new segment, starting at the station, is completed.

Given the MTA’s record of management and budgeting, we know that this project will be late, over budget, and in all likelihood canceled halfway through.

If it does get canceled, at the very least there will be a section of busway that is connected to the station and is used for what it is intended for.

Personally I prefer that a light rail line be installed, using and repairing the existing tracks.
