Ninety percent of the potential problems identified in Susan Spano’s article (“Bad Road Mate? Fasten Your Seat Belts--It’s Going to Be a Bumpy Ride,” Her World, Jan. 16) are based on the assumption that your readers would choose a same-sex travel companion--specifically a woman.
Based on my personal experience, few of these difficulties occur when traveling with a companion of the opposite sex.
This is particularly true when sharing a cruise ship stateroom with a postage-stamp-size bathroom.
