Grave Site

Re “John Brown’s Son Escaped to Southland,” Jan. 30: For several years there was trail access to Owen Brown’s grave at the top of El Prieto Road in Altadena. Last July, three property owners erected a fence blocking pedestrian access to the trail head. This selfish behavior by a few, who ruin it for the many, has become an epidemic of abuse by private landowners throughout many of our foothill communities in the San Gabriel Mountains. One must wonder how long it will be before there will be no access to our local trails.
