A retired veteran school administrator has taken the helm of the Inglewood Unified School District while a search for a permanent superintendent continues.

Paul M. Possemato, the district’s new interim superintendent, took over the reins on Monday. He recently retired after six years as the head of the Laguna Beach Unified School District. Before that, he was a high-ranking administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Possemato took over from Rhuenette Montle, who has run the district since the death of Supt. McKinley Nash seven months ago.

In voting to name Possemato to the interim post at a special meeting last week, the Inglewood Board of Education said it expects to hire a permanent superintendent by the start of the 2000-2001 school year.
