The 411 on a Glittery Page Six Bash

Share

You’d think celebs would avoid a room full of gossip columnists like the plague, but the party that the New York Post’s Page Six threw for itself Wednesday drew some big names.

The ubiquitous Puffy stopped by to exchange pleasantries with editor Richard Johnson. (The music and clothing mogul, recently indicted on weapons possession charges in connection with a New York nightclub shooting in December, is probably desperate for all the good press he can get.)

Also spotted: Jerry Seinfeld’s new wife, Jessica Sklar, “Scream 3” star Liev Schreiber and Drew Barrymore’s estranged mom, Jade Barrymore, who touched my face and said, “You’re such a baby, just like Drew!”

The party was held at Guastavino’s, a new restaurant under the 59th Street bridge that is adjacent to Conran’s, the trendy furniture store.

Heidi Klum, fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Diane von Furstenberg, fashion journalist Suzy Menkes, Vanity Fair staffer Elizabeth Saltzman, Talk editor Tina Brown, Howard Stern, Billy Zane and Donald Trump also attended, according to Page Six.

The party was thrown to celebrate the launch of a Page Six Web site, https://www.pagesix.com. Not ones for modesty, the editors passed out a special edition of Thursday’s paper to guests as they exited. The headline: “Oh, what a party!”

The fur report: Shouting, “Fur pimp!” Kristie Sigmon, a 22-year-old member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals from Chesapeake, Va., was arrested at Michael Kors’ show after trying to throw a tofu cream pie at the designer as he took his victory lap on the runway. The protester missed Kors, who was left with only a smattering of cream on his sleeve.

Another protest occurred at the Randolph Duke show Thursday, when a PETA member splattered red paint on the runway, narrowly missing a model but hitting CNN fashion maven Elsa Klensch and stylist-to-the-stars Phillip Bloch.

Betsey Johnson staged a high-voltage show the other night at the hot nightclub Lot 61 in the even hotter meatpacking district.

The show, which started nearly an hour late, began to the rousing chords of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Models came out wearing vinyl pants, fishnet stockings, neon pink and orange spandex knits and girly tutus. It was the 1980s at their best.

In a refreshing departure from other runway shows this week, Johnson used real-life models, some short and on the curvy side, others covered in tattoos. Her 24-year-old daughter, Lulu, also strolled the catwalk.

Sitting front and center for the parade of punks was “ER’s” Kellie Martin, whose last appearance on the NBC show is Thursday.

“There have been a lot of rumors about how I die, but no one’s got it right,” she said.

As for her plans, said the actress, “I’m not jumping into anything just yet. You can’t go from a show like ‘ER’ to some schlocky show.”

Sexy model Carmen Cass has earned the nickname Carmen Cast because of her broken right wrist.

Most designers have chosen to ignore it, but evening-wear designer Christina Perrin dressed the cast up in a glittery red sleeve.

Hmmm . . . casts. I smell a new trend.
