HUNTINGTON BEACH
Volunteers are needed to help clean up local beaches from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
People will canvass the shore at the north side of the pier, Huntington State Beach and Bolsa Chica State Beach.
The California Coastal Commission is helping to organize this “Love Your Beach” campaign to focus on urban runoff.
About 80% of the trash that finds its way onto beaches began its journey on city streets, the commission reports. The debris is washed into storm drains that flow into the ocean.
