* PORTLAND (8-13, 2-6) at PEPPERDINE (17-6, 7-1), 7--The Waves begin their final homestand against a West Coast Conference opponent they defeated, 75-68, last week. Pepperdine has had difficulty scoring inside, but not against Portland. Center Nick Sheppard had 14 points and forward Kelvin Gibbs 16 in last week’s game. Portland is 0-9 on the road; Pepperdine has lost only once at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Waves must be careful not to look past Portland to Saturday’s sold-out home game against Gonzaga, which will be televised at 5 p.m. on Fox Sports Net 2.
