Library Scofflaws Getting a Reprieve

Share

The county of Los Angeles Public Library wants its overdue books back, and it’s willing to pardon wayward borrowers to get them.

Patrons may return late books and materials free of charge during the library’s upcoming Amnesty Days, Friday until March 5. Fines will still be charged, however, for overdue Friends of the Library rental items.

Materials can be returned to any of the 84 county-run libraries or three bookmobiles.

The offer coincides with the county’s 150th birthday--officially Friday--which will be toasted this weekend at museums and public gardens throughout the region. The libraries plan to celebrate with open houses Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
