The City Council is expected to adopt a resolution on Tuesday commending a softball coach for his five years of community service.

As president of the Laguna Niguel Girls’ Softball League, Gary Roney will retire from his position after this season.

During Roney’s leadership, the Laguna Niguel Girls’ Softball League grew from 300 in 1996 to 730 this year, according to a report from Pauline Colin, executive secretary.

The open meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 27801 La Paz Road.
