Tustin Shooting Involved Gangs

A shooting that left two men wounded in a Tustin alley was gang-related, police said Wednesday.

The victims--Roger Sida, 23, of Tustin and Douglas Fafita, 21, of Huntington Beach--said they did not see their attackers. No arrests have been made.

The men were shot in the alley behind an apartment complex in the 16500 block of Montego Way about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, after “exchanging words” with at least two people, Tustin Police Lt. Mike Shanahan said.

Sida was treated for a gunshot wound in an arm and released from Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. Fafita underwent surgery at the same hospital, where he was listed as being stable Wednesday. He was shot in the abdomen, police said.

“The victims are known gang members of a local Tustin street gang,” Shanahan said. “We believe they were shot by members of a rival gang, although the circumstances are still under investigation.

Shanahan said the victims’ injuries are not life-threatening.
