Center Rolake Bamgbose’s career at Harvard-Westlake is likely over.

Bamgbose, who tore an anterior cruciate ligament before the season, failed to get clearance to play from a doctor last week.

“I was so mad,” she said. “I gave him the evil eye.”

But not all the news was bad for Bamgbose.

She recently committed to Emory University in Atlanta, a Division III school, and earned her letter at Harvard-Westlake last week with a brief appearance against Flintridge Sacred Heart.

In a play reminiscent of one used by Connecticut in the 1998, Bamgbose started the game and scored a layup in the opening seconds when the opposition agreed not to cover her.

Immediately after the basket, Harvard-Westlake called a timeout and removed Bamgbose from the game.

“[Coach Stephanie Wilson of Flintridge Sacred Heart] was a very nice woman,” Bamgbose said. “I’m glad I had the chance to do that.”
