Name That Company
I was started by two fellows with $538 in a California garage in 1938. My first product was the resistance-capacity audio oscillator, an instrument used to test sound equipment. Walt Disney used eight when making “Fantasia.” By 1958, I’d gone public and had 1,778 employees and 373 products. By 1972, my sales topped $365 million. In 1980, I made my first PC. One of my founders briefly served as deputy secretary of Defense. Who am I?

Last Week’s Trivia Answer
You’ve probably never heard of me. I should use my big mouth, though, and make sure the world learns my name. I’m a big fish in my pond, after all. Each year I put up 150 million people at one of my 2,700-plus hotels in about 95 countries. My brands include Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts and the new extended-stay Staybridge Suites. Holiday Inn began in Memphis, Tenn., in 1952 and is now the largest single hotel brand and the most widely recognized lodging brand in the world. I’m a subsidiary of a British company. Who am I?
