The City Council will vote tonight on 10% pay raises for the city’s police officers.
The council approved a 5% increase--in addition to a negotiated 5% increase--in an attempt to stop as many as 23 officers from leaving the department for better-paying jobs in other cities.
Both city and union officials say they will meet to discuss ways to improve the negotiation process, which begins again in April. The council meets at 6:45 p.m. at the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. Information: (714) 741-5035.
