* Waste Management Inc. named William Trubeck, chief financial officer of vending machine company International Multifoods Corp., as its new chief financial officer. Trubeck, 53, replaces Earl DeFrates, who resigned in July as the waste disposal company issued its second of four profit warnings last year. Don Chappel, interim CFO since August, will leave the company after Trubeck takes over March 6. Waste Management has blamed an inability to track revenue and costs for reduced profit.

* Russell Stover Candies plans to close its 30-year-old plant in Marion, S.C., in two months and lay off all 836 employees at the plant. The privately held maker of Russell Stover and Whitman’s chocolates employs 6,300 people and has annual sales of $620 million.
