Pepperdine hosts St. Mary’s in a women’s basketball game Friday night that likely determines the West Coast Conference champion.
The winner clinches a share of the conference title and will get the No. 1-seeding for the conference tournament, which begins March 2 at Santa Clara.
Pepperdine concludes the regular season Saturday with a home game against San Diego. St. Mary’s finishes Saturday at Loyola Marymount.
The Waves (17-8, 10-2 in WCC play) have won seven consecutive games and 15 of 18. One of those losses was a 53-47 setback last month against St. Mary’s (17-8, 10-2).
Friday’s game features two of the conference’s top players, forward Tracy Morris of St. Mary’s and guard Rasheeda Clark of Pepperdine.
Morris is averaging a conference-best 18 points, while Clark is fourth at 16.1.
“There could be two future WNBA players here,” said Coach Mark Trakh of Pepperdine.
