Brashear Thanks Supporters

Even as local and provincial officials mull prosecuting Boston’s Marty McSorley, Canuck winger Donald Brashear attended Friday night’s game against the Kings and issued a statement thanking fans for their support.

Brashear was hammered across the head with a stick by McSorley with three seconds to play in Monday night’s game at Vancouver.

Brashear has a concussion and cannot have any physical activity for two to three weeks.

A bit over a year ago, Kings’ Coach Andy Murray picked up the phone and listened to Marc Crawford ask him to join Crawford’s new coaching staff at Vancouver. The job was associate coach.

“I talked it over with my wife and realized that I had a commitment to some boys,” said Murray, then coaching high school hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota. “I had told them if they played well, they would be rewarded with things like scholarships. It wouldn’t have been right to leave in the middle of the season.”
