1st Supervisorial District Race

Share

In my estimation, Rosa Lee Measures is the most qualified of the candidates for the 1st District supervisorial seat. I followed her actions as a Ventura City Council member and believe she has exemplified all the credentials that would serve this county well as a supervisor.

I consider her the most balanced of the candidates in terms of her professional, governmental, civic and cultural experience. Her financial experience as a bank executive well qualifies her to take the necessary actions to maintain fiscal responsibility within the county, balanced by the proper level of cultural and civic support. She has actively served on environmental commissions associated with air quality and beach erosion.

Maybe most important is her vital interest in the development of the youth of our community. All in all, she has all the necessary qualities and interests to serve this county well.

How can anyone even compare the supervisorial qualifications of a person who has spent 19 years as a high school teacher/counselor or one who has specialized in financial management, each with only one term on the Ventura City Council, to the qualifications of Jim Monahan, who has been active in all levels of [addressing] the public’s problems?

Jim is a known problem-solver, both in business and in the political arena. The public has reelected him over and over again because he responds to a broad spectrum of needs with sincerity.

If you want the very best unbiased decisions to run a solvent and livable county, applied by a person who cares about all of Ventura and its citizens, vote for Jim Monahan.

The voters of Supervisorial District 1 are being offered a truly extraordinary opportunity. In their endorsements of Steve Bennett, both local newspapers remarked on the superior vision and leadership he has shown compared to the other two candidates. Indeed! But that barely says it.

True, both endorsements made specific laudatory reference to Bennett’s co-authorship of and leadership role in the successful adoption of the Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR) initiatives, which provide us practical, effective means of containing urban sprawl in Ventura County. But the endorsements can only hint at the extraordinary intelligence, talent and heroic, years-long effort required to accomplish it.

We couldn’t get a better person for this office if we invented him.
