Food Drive
* As we closed the warehouse doors at Food Share on Christmas Eve, we were tired but very grateful. The Holiday Challenge Food Drive was a huge success.
Thanks to thousands of helping hands across Ventura County, 122,000 pounds of nutritious food were donated. We received 2,200 turkeys and $12,000 for food purchase, an all-time record. More than 5,500 families received generous holiday food boxes.
How did we do this? Because 350 organizations and thousands of individuals stepped forward, far too many to thank individually in this letter.
Under the leadership of the chairman, Sheriff Bob Brooks, our county again showed how we can pull together.
