Top Diver Sorgi Signs With Stanford

Erica Sorgi, a senior at Capistrano Valley High, has signed a letter of intent to dive for Stanford.

“It’s obviously one of the best schools in the nation, and I got a full ride, so I’m really excited about going to school there,” Sorgi said.

Sorgi returned here in December from Orlando, Fla., where she trained and went to school for almost a year.

“I was really homesick and I wanted to spend time with my family before I went to college,” said Sorgi.

Sorgi is a leading contender for the 2000 Olympics. A six-time senior national champion and 12-time junior national champion, Sorgi said she plans to compete in high school.
