Stevens was active in the First Christian Church in Ventura and often helped her husband, who was a Boy Scout troop leader and a junior high school teacher.

The couple enjoyed camping with their children and gardening.

During World War II, Stevens was a Red Cross volunteer. In 1951, she returned to school and earned a high school diploma. She studied to be a nurse but instead became a psychiatric technician. She worked at Camarillo State Hospital as well as a mental health hospital in Atascadero.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Stevens is survived by a son, Judd Stevens of Ventura; a daughter, Carolyn Stevens of Ventura; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

A memorial celebration is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Assembly of God Church building fund.

Arrangements are being handled by Camino del Sol Memorial Center and Funeral Home in Oxnard.
