Alone, Not Lonely

Share

Yet another wonderful article by Susan Spano (“It Doesn’t Have to Be a Lonesome Road Just Because You’re Traveling Solo,” Her World, Dec. 19). I travel by myself and enjoy it very much. And just as the article says, when you are traveling solo you have so many opportunities to meet other travelers as well as local residents.

I was quite surprised when I began traveling by the number of single women who travel on their own. I do not meet many American women, but many women from Australia and Europe.

And as you stated, I have never felt lonely. I am often surprised by the number of times I am invited to people’s homes for the evening--which is what happened when I visited the Taj Mahal.

I am leaving in February for a return trip to West Africa, this time Ghana and Togo. Last year I was in Mali and Burkina Faso.
