Residents are hoping to meet with city officials to convince them to air the City Council’s Monday night meetings on a local cable channel.

Last week, an informal meeting that was scheduled between City Manager Thomas Mauk and residents to discuss the issue was canceled at the last minute. Residents are demanding the meeting be rescheduled immediately.

City officials refused to comment on the issue.

Lynton Hurdle, who ran for a council seat two years ago and lost, Joe Geissinger, an audio-video specialist from La Habra Heights, members from the League of Women Voters, a representative from Adelphia Cable Co. and longtime La Habra resident Bob Dale want to meet with city officials.

“If the City Council doesn’t authorize the taping, our only other option is to do it through petition and put it on a ballot,” Dale said.
