Parents and teachers of elementary students at Richman School met Thursday to discuss how to improve students’ math skills at school and home.

“The main focus of the meeting was to review the math standards for elementary schools set by the state, and to relate what parents can do to help,” school Principal Yolanda McComb said.

During the meeting, teachers stressed to parents the importance of using mathematics at home to show students its practical uses. They also taught parents math games to help improve the computational skills of the children.

The meeting was one of four held throughout the year to inform parents on aspects of education, McComb said.
