Ice Dogs Open Trip With Win
The Long Beach Ice Dogs needed a shootout, but opened their nine-game trip on a positive note, defeating the Houston Aeros, 3-2, at Houston.
Dion Darling scored the game-winning goal in the shootout on goaltender Frederic Chabot in the first sudden death round. Marcel Cousineau stopped five of six attempts in the shootout to earn the victory.
Ice Dog rookie Dieter Kalt scored with 59 seconds left to tie the game. Mike Crowley had two assists and Doug Ast had a goal and an assist for Long Beach.
