The City Council on Tuesday will consider whether to approve a program that gives a day off to employees who complete a health program emphasizing lifestyle changes. In 1999, more than 1,000 city employees participated in the program in its test phase, with 402 earning a day off.
Anaheim’s Human Resources Department advocates the program, saying it ultimately benefits the city. In 1999, those employees who earned a day off averaged 31 sick leave hours, while other employees averaged 37 hours. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. at council chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
