Seton Hall Mourners Crowd Funeral Rites
Churches in three New Jersey towns overflowed with mourners at funeral services for three 18-year-old freshmen who died in last week’s dormitory fire at Seton Hall University. In West Long Branch, teenage pallbearers carrying the coffin of Frank Caltabilota Jr. cried all the way up the aisle of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church. More than 800 people filled the church. University Chancellor Thomas Peterson was among 450 who crowded into a church in Dunellen to say goodbye to Aaron Karol. Three busloads of Seton Hall students were among 500 people who went to Vineland for John Giunta’s funeral Mass.
