With buyers increasingly able to customize their new homes as easily as they pick options in an automobile, a new magazine is being launched to focus on the trend.

Options for Today’s Fine Homes will be published by Peninsula Publishing Inc., the Newport Beach-based owner of Builder and Developer magazine, a publication that covers the home building industry in California, Nevada and Arizona. The magazine will cover the latest options and upgrades for homes.

Many builders have showrooms to help buyers decide, for example, whether they prefer maple or oak cupboards, stone or tile counter tops, carpet or paint colors.

“It’s becoming apparent that the options and upgrades market is starting to drive new home sales,” said the magazine’s publisher, Nick Slevin.

The free magazine will be mailed to 10,000 industry professionals, and a similar number will be available in design centers, model homes and real estate offices for new home buyers in California. The first issue will appear this spring.
