In announcing the end of his presidential campaign Wednesday, Republican Utah Sen. Orrin G. Hatch said he knew he was in trouble when a woman asked if she could have her picture taken with him. “Really?” Hatch responded. “Do you want to send this picture to your kids?” “No,” she responded. “I just need to finish out the roll.”

Are You Ghana Ask Him? Andy Hiller, the reporter who stumped Texas Gov. George W. Bush by asking him to name foreign capitals, shoved his microphone at Alan L. Keyes and asked him about the “Iowa bounce.” “Ask him the capital of Ghana!” another reporter called out. Mindful that Keyes is the only candidate in the current crop who boasts a PhD, Hiller dismissed the entreaty with a wave of his hand. “He knows,” Hiller said.
