SPARKS TONIGHT
vs. Cleveland, 5:30
* Site--Great Western Forum.
* Radio--KPLS (830).
* Records--Sparks 11-2, Rockers 7-6.
* Record vs. Rockers (1999)--2-0.
* Update--Hoping to increase their winning streak to eight, the Sparks take on the WNBA’s surprise team. Last summer, the Rockers were dead last, finishing 7-25, and prospects seemed dim. But Cleveland led for much of the early Eastern Conference schedule and is tied for second place. Eva Nemcova averages 14 points. Veteran Suzie McConnell Serio starts at point guard but gets strong backup from the Rockers’ No. 2 draft pick, Helen Darling of Penn State. Spark guard Tamecka Dixon, who missed the Sparks’ 82-73 victory at Indiana Wednesday because of a sprained ankle, is expected to play. Coach Michael Cooper hopes for another strong game from point guard Ukari Figgs, who had nine assists at Indiana.
* Tickets--(310) 330-2434.
