Channel Islands Grad Receives Scholarship
Michelle Hollingsworth, a graduating senior at Channel Islands High School, received the 2000 Charles K. Gose Scholarship. The award was created by the children of Gose, a former Navy veteran and political science teacher at the high school. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Channel Islands High School student with an interest in government, civics or teaching. Michelle will attend Westmont College to study elementary education and special education.
Group Gives Grant to Wellness Community
The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura received a $25,000 grant from the Fanny and Svante Knistrom Foundation. The money will be used to fund the Westlake Village-based nonprofit organization’s emotional support, education and friendship programs for cancer patients and family members.
