RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA
Sunshine was the most prominent feature of the drawings submitted by nearly every resident who participated in the contest to design a city seal.
So far, the city has received 55 entries to the contest, which ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
At its meeting May 18, the City Council asked residents to submit designs that included symbols representing the community’s defining elements and using no more than four colors.
While many of the designs emphasized sunlight, most of the drawings included a combination of three distinct elements: Saddleback, Lake Santa Margarita and the blazing sun.
City staff members hope to have the judging completed by the end of July and to present the winners with awards at a council meeting in August.
